I haven't had much time to do this lately. Which is a shame, really, because I've always done my best processing of events after I've had a chance to write them down and review later. My experiences on F-2 are vividly etched in my brain; I cannot imagine ever forgetting some of the stuff I've seen. I am not a trauma or critical care nurse and I don't like emergencies. I prefer my shift to be planned out with established goals and parameters. I do everything I can to prevent emergencies otherwise someone is going to have a bad day. What does this have to do with writing? Well, I have to establish goals and parameters for writing as well.
If I had to limit myself to a few books on writing, I would recommend:
